Need help with hologram monti

I aquired a small frag of the "hologram" montipora from a local friend. It has browned out in my tank. I have nitrates around 10, but don't think this is the reason as monti's are rather hardy sps.

Can anyone help with whether I should blast it with more light. Right now it is at the bottom of my tank. Yes, I use led's... All my other monti do great. I am thinking it needs more light, but I don't want to kill it. It is growing... Just brown...

Sorry for the cell pic's but you get the point.

Thanks for any insight.

I too use LED's (SOL Blues). I have seen better color once I added a couple T5's to supplement for the lack of color spectrum from the LED's. Just a thought , by the way I add four 48 inch T5's and the world is good once again.

Mine has held its color being blasted in the upper 1/3 of my tank. It is right next to some of my torts under 4 sols. I would raise it a bit and try it out.

Thanks, I will raise it up a bit. Right now it is getting like 180 par...

I could move it to an area in the 300 range.

Do you by chance know the par rating your sol's are providing? My led's are cree rb, b, cw, nw, and ww.

Thanks for the input!

No, sorry. I never measured PAR with my sols. I wish I did, but I just started slow and gradually increased my levels. I had heard that the PAR meters didn't measure LEDs correctly anyway. Never had a coral bleach, but did have some brown out a bit before color came back.

Ok, thanks. What do you keep your alk and nitrates at? I will work on ramping up mine as well. I had some stn a while back, but I blame that on fluctuating (low) alk before I dialed in my dosing schedule.

I keep my Alk low, near NSW levels from 7-7.5dKH. I've never really struggled with nitrates, from 2.5-5 on a Salifert kit. I do struggle with phosphates despite using GFO in a reactor. My PO4 levels are around 0.7ppm using the Hanna handheld checker. Luckily I don't have any algae issues, and never really had.
