I have a 12 gallon Aquapod w/ the hood. It has 2x18w compacts with white and lunar, and also has LED's. I cycle the lighting according to guidelines. My tempature is 82.5 with lights on and 80.9 with lights off. I cut the slots out of the top and fan area. Please help with ideas to fix problem.

Your temp seems ok to me. If it gets higher than put a fan blowing across the water. Im pretty sure its safe to have the temp at even 84, but others should chime in for you!!!

WELCOME to Reef Central!!! :D

Your temp is fine. My tank has been consistently the same as yours for years with no negative affects. I wouldn't worry about it, especially since with a nano you don't have much choice.

Yeah, you'll be pretty safe, i have a 125 reef that runs at 78 with no heaters, 82 with heaters (to avoid temp fluctuations) around 82 with VHO's on and jumps up to almost 86 degrees with MH's on, and because of that i only use my MH's for a few short hours to avoid the water to heat up that much. But ive seen my tank at 86 degrees and nothing got cooked an di have EVERYThing you could possibly have in a reef tank. SPS, LPSs, soft corals, croceas, scallops, zoa's mushrooms, anenomes sponge, Oh wait i dont have gorgoanians or sun corals. But you get the point.
