My custom tank is 1" acrylic i know the vortechs say up to 3/4" but is that glass or both? i know that the magnets can get a better pull through acrylic then through glass so will it work? if not, can you stuff some stronger magnets in there for me so i can use your product over other power heads?

See the response to your post in the Icecap Forum.

Direct quote from Tim EcoTech Engineer from another thread "The pump is simply not compatible on a 1" thick aquarium and unfortunately here is nothing that can be done about this, as it is simply the limitation of our product at this time.

I wonder if the limitation is holding strength, i.e. the two halves won't grip tight enough, or if it is a problem with actually rotating the propeller. To say it another way, if you could use some type of bracket to hold the pieces against the tank wall, would it work OK then?

Just wondering aloud...

Better than brackets what about a "dry box" like an overflow but built high enough that water can't get in there. You can make that any thickness.

That is a good idea. In the display tank that is being raffled in their MACNA area they have something similar setup except is it the reverse. It is a dry box at the bottom of the tank. Accessible from underneath the stand.

It might be difficult to align the Vortech that way, but if you could, and it had enough ventilation to not overheat, that sounds promising.
