Need help with white ribbon eel

I've had this eel for about two years without any problems. It's been about a month since he's last eaten and I'm starting to worry about his health. He isn't interested in any of the foods he was eating before, and my lfs says that eels "fast" sometimes. I'm wondering if anyone here has any similar experiences or advice. Any help would be appreciated.

i had one and he never "fasted" on me. however i do have a black ribbon eel. when i got him he fasted when i first got him.

what have you tried to feed?

when mine fasted i put peppermint shrimp in the tank. they live in saltwater so he can hunt at his leasure.

i would alsotrie ghost shrimp if they are availible to you. my eels love silversides. my black ribbon eel love silversides and jumbo mysis shrimp.

what kind of home does he have? i build a PVC pipe for my black one and it made a wprld of difference in how comfortable he is. my ghost ribbon stayed in some tightly packed rocks on one side of the tank. i think that would come into play also.

what are his tankmates? any new additions recently?

If you can I would try putting in some shrimp that he can eat, but if I recall your tank they may not last too long. As far as fasting I had a ghost that fasted for a decent amount of time (3-4 weeks) before deciding he wanted to eat again. Offer foods while you can, try using "stealthier" methods (fish line on skewers/sticks help a lot if you're not already doing that). Good luck.
