Need help

I'm not sure what I have in my system but it kills fish in about 2 weeks. I originally had what I thought was ich on a small achelies tang. He was in the tank for about 4 months with a very small clown tang and both appeared to be very healthy. Both ate well. then the small clown tang became aggressive toward the achelies and started picking on him. The very next day the achelies developed what I thought was ich, small white spots. I was able to catch the clown tang and get rid of him. The spots cleared up very fast and I thought I was out of the woods. I then added a regal angel who also ate right away and seemed very healthy. About a month later the regal died and the achelies died a few days later. The achelies looked like a film was peeling off of his body the day before he died. Hard to discribe but I will post a picture. I had two gold head gobies and a mandarin who never seemed to be affected. I waited about six weeks to see if the mandarin or gobies showed any signs of infection but they did not so I added a small yellow tang. The yellow tang are initially but his appetite decreased over about two weeks and he died. Before he died he had why looked like some white blotchy areas on him. Sorry no pics. My question is do I need to remove the gobies and the mandarin and let the tank go fallow? If they are not infected could they still be carrying what ever it is that is killing my other fish? Removing the mandarin won't be a huge issue, he sleeps in the same spot every night that I can easily scoop him up with a net. The gobies on the other hand are going to be much harder to remove. If I do need to remove them what do I do with them? Would they need to be treated with hypo or copper just like an infected fish? I think my problem is either velvet or ich but not exactly sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like a fast killer like velvet to me. i had a powder blue with velvet and it had similar symptoms. luckily he was by himself in QT at the time. didn't make it.

good idea getting your tank fallow. make sure to engage a stronger QT regiment going forward so you don't have the mass loss experience again.

for now, leave your DT fallow for 72 days, that will get rid of velvet, brook and Ich. current fish, you will want to do a combination of TTM and formalin baths to get rid of current velvet and any Ich as well. the mandarin may be tough given eating requirements, but do some searches on best ways to deal with that (I have seen posts, just never had a mandarin myself).

to remove the gobies you may just have to pull out enough rock to draw them into the open. how large is your tank?

So the ich, velvet, or brook can live in the tank with the mandarin and gobies even though they show no signs of infection?

Absolutely for Ich. I will need to defer to others about velvet or brook... can fish carry it but not be adversely affected?
