So I thought I used to have this cool black sponge but today I noticed it wasnt there. I searched around and saw it was moving! What is it!!!!!????

Could this guy be the reason I dont have any alge in my tank?

Most likely a Scutus; a type of limpet. They have been reported to eat coral tissue, but not often. They usually much algae.

Dont have any info on what it is, but we had one of those in a tank at work and it ate toooons of algae.

limpets dont usually expose their shells. if they do its more like a armor plate than a shell. heres some info on Scutus sp. limpets with a pic of the shell http://www.seaslugforum.net/factsheet.cfm?base=scutus

I've always wondered about that link, as it's not frilly like the ones I have and have seen. I have them in my tanks, mostly they just come out at night.

It belongs to the family Fissurellidae which includes the Slit-Limpets and Keyhole Limpets
