Need ideas for a new large tank

My wife has been wanting to redecorate the House & it looks like she is in the begining stages. My 200 gal in the living room makes it hard for a non fish person to decorate around it. Im a sales man so I thought I would throw out, " if your going to upgrade the house, then the fish want an upgrade too" SHe bought it!

I have had a saltwater tank since i was 11, 34 yrs now. Wow I could have had a ferrari!

OK, now here is the condition, I put the larger tank in the study. The study is the first room when you walk in & has 2 french doors that open up into it. Ceiling is like 15 ft tall.

I have always wanted to do a L shaped tank, yes I have checked out Andy's thread. But i may stick with rectangle.

I looked on glass cages sit & they have a 730 gal for 3500.00, i am looking to see the cost of starfire.

I am looking for ideas on measurements. What measurements do you have & what would you change?

Allcomments & ideas welcome

Thanks

GL with your new build Andy... congrats on the go-ahead from the wifey :D

I just wanted to add my 2 cents about the manufacturer you mentioned... stay away! I know their prices are unreal compared to others, but I had another local reefers buddies tank made by them blow out just last weekend. It was under a month old, and they told him tough luck!

When you're doing a build like this, longevity and quality should be high on your list... wifey would not be happy about a blown out 700 gal in the remodeled study ;)

I keep seeing here on the LRT forum tanks under a year old failing. I have always wondered why people insist on buying a tank for the most dirt cheap price they can find. $3500.00 for a 730g, thats not right! I personally would wonder why the price is so much less than a comparable tank from another manufacturer. Like Austin said, quality and longevity! Do your homework

I very much appreciate all the responses, that is why I posted here. I am in the very begining stages of this & that is the first place I looked. I buy quality everything, I have always believed that you get what you pay for.

Can anyone reccomend a place to get a 500-700 gal glass aq?

I have had not bought a tank for a loooong time.

There will be a lot of planning before anything is bought, & alot opions asked for her on RC.

Thinking sola tube or some kind of natural light, if I can get it approved by my nazi community association.

Andy
