Need ideas to mount Mini Max reactor

I Have a mini max reactor , need a way to mount on to tank. Reactor mount bracket has 1/4 inch space. Tank rim is 3/16 plus lid flange. Is there any issue cutting & shaving top trim piece down?

I've trimmed the plastic rim over a 40 gallon breeder (aqueon) in order to run a small HOB filter. Never had any issues. I wouldn't go all the way through the rim though.

I might be able to model and 3d print a new mount for it that will fit your tank without cutting the trim.
