hello people,
i have done quite a bit of research on uv sterilizers. most feel they are unnecessary. im wondering if anyone has some positive experiences using them? im looking at the emperor aquatics. i know it acts mainly as a preventative measure against fish parasites and free floating algae (of which i have quite a bit at the moment). i manually remove what i can and have my vertex dialed in and its pulling out some nice wet skimmate (carbon dose).
any input would be much appreciated. are they worth they big $ for a proper unit? i have an sps tank, to say dominated would be an understatement. i understand uv will pull out negative and positive bacteria in the water. my thoughts are that we dose the positive things anyway (phytofeast, oysterfeast etc etc). plus our beneficial bacteria stays on/in our rocks and substrate (as well as algae). so thats how i am approaching this dilemma.
