I have recently come to rather large issue with my tank. When I started and didn't know anything, I used lace rock (cuz it was cheap of course). As a result I have had a hell of bad algea issue. It has come to my attention that the only way to fix this is to replace the rock. So I need to find roughly 60 lbs of GOOD CLEAN preferably cured LR. I am currently unemployed (who isn't these days) so I have minimal funds to work with so if any one was any spare or just some that you would be willing to let go for a minimal amount PLEASE let me know.

Lace rock is of a different mineral makeup and in the more abusive confines of salt water it leaches minerals and stuff that grows an algae that WILL NOT respond to traditional treatments. Phil experienced the same issue and the only way he got rid of it was to get rid of the rock. I have a friend in AZ who used it on a tank once and also got the exact same problem. After doing some research I found several other people with nearly identical problems to mine. I have fought this stupid algae for 7 months now and NOTHING has touched it. I have tested everything you can buy a test for and tried every thing and it just continues to get worse. Upon further inspection I found that the six pieces of true live rock I have in my tank have 0 algae on them, which only solidifies my findings. Now that being said, I have also found the people that have used lace rock for a base that is COMPLETELY covered with true live rock have had better results. The key seems to be that it will only grow on the lace rock and if you can isolate it from ALL sources of light its ok. For the small amount of money it saves from this stand point it seems to me the better choice is to just rid myself of it all together. Clouse at Coral Reef also supports this theory.
