So my Fiancee's Canon A520 was recently stolen from her car. I'm thinking of picking up a Canon A620 this weekend after reading countless grat reviews. What memory card wouuld you guru's recommend? The last SD card I had seemed to be a bit slow recording images and this camera is 7.1mp so I"m guess it would take even longer. I dont' really know too much about memory cards or if there really even is a big difference.

Thanks Everyone
Chris

p.s. here are a couple deals I found but don't know enough to tell if they are the speed/quality I want. BTW, camera is just for personal use, not a photographer or anything :)

First thing I did was check the vendors out on resellerratings.com because I'd never heard of them-- always do that with a vendor you've never dealt with before. J&R scores a lot higher than Compuplus- check out their reviews (go to reseller and click on the 'store review' tab and enter their names).
I've always bought my cards from mydigitaldiscount.com.
All memory cards except the most basic cheapo cards have a speed rating- "x" being the measure they all use. Each "x" represents approximately 150k per second; a 50x card can transfer data at approximately 7.5mb per second, which is faster than most cameras writes- so if you get a card that is at least 50x you won't be waiting on the card. The faster the card the faster it will upload to your computer- you'll save some time there if you use a usb2 cardreader.
Hope this helps,
Greg

Thanks for the info :)

I'll make sure I check out whichever vendor I choose to go with

I don't care about speed from the camera to the computer, just speed in taking picture to picture. I dont' want to have to wait on the memory card to take my next picture.

I also do not want to worry about a card loosing pictures... I would rather pay a little extra for a good quality card, but I just don't really know what a "good" quality card is. For example on the site you mentioned they have 1gb cards ranging from $24.99 to around $100. Am I wrong to assume the $24.99 card(80x speed) is a piece of junk?

I have several Transcend cards and [knock on wood!] never had any card go bad. A friend of mine had a Sandisk card go bad several years ago and they replaced it no questions asked and asap. Having a card go bad is a very rare experience so I don't worry about it much. Transcend and Ritek make up the majority of my cards and to be honest I think it's a waste of money to buy one card over another lesser known brand if the speed is the same.

I have purchased from NewEgg before and it was painless and easy.

It was a flashdrive vs. a memory card.

Forgot to comment on this. You'll end up waiting on the camera to write but not, technically speaking, on the card as long as you get something that is decently fast- 50x or so and I think you'll be fine.
