Need phytoplankton?

I use it to grow clownfish. I feed it to rotifers to enrich them. The enriched rotifers are consumed by the clownfish. Very yummy and nutritious.

Other folks use it to feed clams and filter feeding invertebrates.

I use it just as an all around bottom of the food chain feeding. I usually go through a 2 liter a week of nano phyto.

Does this stuff have any effect otherwise on your tank? Like if you use too much of it does it contribute to nitrates at all from too much wasted food in the tank? And does it help increase pod population?

Hi Kathy, I need some oh that green goodness. I tried to get some at the frag swap but to no avail. This stuff is similar to DT's right=good for my corals? Just let me know when we can meet up.

Darn, I just sold the lot.... Are you going to Gateway's grand opening? I could bring some if what I have left grows fast enough....

Awesome, My corals thank you! I will probably be up there on sat. around 12 or 1 pm. BTW what do you want for it? Thanx again Kathy!

I don't know about nitrates cause I don't use it on my display tank. Anyone else want to comment? It is, however, alive, so it should not rot real quick like dead phyto can. Should increase pod population, cause they will eat it as far as I know.

I feed about 1 liter per week of mine on a total system volume of 235 gallons. I run between undetectable and sometimes up to 5 if I miss a couple weeks in a row of water changes. I haven't really experimented with consumption vs. nitrate levels to find a ideal target feeding volume. I probably should do a measured amount and keep track of it over a month or two but I'm feeling lazy lately. I have no phosphates detected on my salifert test but I also run phosban so ?? I had ton's of feather dusters, almost plague proportions until I got the copperbanded butterfly. I just feed for the purpose of supporting the bottom of the food chain and letting the rest of it go from there. From some studies I've read it's much better to also grow the roitfers and feed both for better food chain supplementation.
