Need some advice for Tunze placement/apex programs

I have a standard 180 gallon glass tank with a center overflow. My returns are on sea swirls and oscillate at 45 degree angles. I currently have (1) 6105 and (2) 6095's controlled by an apex. My plan is to eventually buy another 6105 because I love these pumps. I was wondering what ya'll suggest the ideal placement would be for these and if anyone has any Apex programs they'd like to share.

Any info is immensely appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Mike,

I think you're off to a good start with the placement you have there. With only one 6105 I would suggest having it pointing down the length of the tank. You'll want to take advantage of its greater reach. If you have both Wide and Narrow flow housings for the 6105, use the Narrow flow housing for that same reason.

You could then use the 6095s to provide gentler, wider flow from behind the rocks. Aiming these from the back directly into the rocks, towards the front pane would get you more of the circulation you need in between the rocks themselves.

I'm afraid I don't have any Apex programs to share. A simple and effective scenario would be to have the two 6095s each pulsing between 30% and 100% with a pulse rate of 2-3 seconds. You could even have them alternate, so that while one is pulsing the other is constantly on and then every 5-6 hours the two change roles. The 6105 I would give a longer pulse rate, so that when it's on full power the stream has time to make it the whole length of the tank.
