Need some advice

Chuggy,

He looks much better today. I do have a cleaner shrimp, that he allows to clean him time and again. Maybe should get a second. I think the only way to catch beside removing all the rock would be a fish trap...but haven't tried that yet.

If I have a sick or stressed out fish I put them in the display tank
I think it stresses them out more to QT them.I think wrasses, shrimp, gobies are the way to go!
I think a UV is a waste of money!!
hyposalinity just hides the problem they come back after you put them back in reg. salinity.

I only had two fish at the time..so caught both..quarentined and treated with copper. I did let my tank go fallow for 6 weeks and was really carefull about qt with new additions. It was a pain but greatly reduces the risk of re infection I believe. Guess some tangs are much more susceptible though. Good article:

Everytime I get a new tang, they break out.....but they usually get rid of it on their own...the cleaner shrimp and garlic food help build up an immunity.

Every time I have caught a fish to put in quarantine they have died. I think you either have to do it before you put them in the display or give up on the idea.

I have found that a healthy fish that eats well will overcome ich.

Ick as I have asked before, will appear even after QT. So in all honesty it is something that is a normal parasite in an aquarium. If you feed your fish normally and make sure they are healthy, they will beat it on their own. If it already has ick and you quarantine it, the ick is already in your DT. So even after it beat the ick in QT, when you put it back in your DT. It is eventually going to get it again. I would definitely QT for other types of disease, but I wouldn't do it for Ick. Just my personal opinion.
