I was wondering if there an specific overflow box that I can get for my 90g tank. and need some opinions on whats a really good box and not so expensive and after getting an overflow box would it matter on the pump that returns to the main tank?

the reason I want another box is because the one I have is from a tom's rapids pro set up and from what I see on the overflow box is that I think that there's not a whole lot of flow to the drain to sump! but in a way its right or else it wouldnt be even with the return pump right!!!

now I'm running a viaqua 1800 return pump aroun 4 feet so dont really know how many gph its actually pushing up to main tank

I have the Eshopps PF-300 overflow from Drs. F&S on my 45g and for a HOB overflow I think it's pretty good. I added a Hofer gurgle buster to it and the only time I've had issues is once I had a couple big ol' chunks of algae clogged it up and another time I didn't have the return pump set to a high enough rate so I ended up with lots of bubbles in the U-tube that stopped suction. They have 1 single tube rated at 800 and a dual tube at 900 gph.

Personally, I think the key for picking your return pump with a HOB is getting one with more power than you need and dialing it back with a ball valve in the return. If I start to accumulate air in the U-tube I can just turn up the flow and it'll push the bubbles out. You just need to find the right balance so that your pump isn't putting more water in the tank than your overflow can suck out otherwise you can figure out the rest. On the Reef Central home page there should be a head loss calculator. Check to see if your pump in on the list. Hope this helps.

I think the eshopps 800Gph over flow is good that's what I have on my 90 and it's the best. I've got no problems at all. my return is 600gph

I have both a LifeReef and an Eshopps, if I had it to do all over again I would have 2 LifeReef's. The quality difference alone makes the price difference worth it. Then there is the design differences, and the LifeReef wins hands down.
