need some direction on which path to take

A couple of weeks ago I fell into a heck of a deal on an acrylic 110 with acrylic base/hood with a sump, uv sterilizer, skimmer etc for $100 bucks!!!

I have always wanted a reef tank (I have a 75 gal fresh that I have wanted to convert but my wife is attached to the fish in it).

The 110 is set up as an aggressive fowlr with a porcupine puffer, huma trigger, snowflake eel and chocolate chip sea star. My wife likes the fish but at this point is not so attached that I can not re house them.

I recently had an opportunity to pick up a 28g nano cube for a good price.

the ultimate point of this post is to gather opinions on whether I should rehouse the fish, upgrade lighting and convert the 110 to reef? or should I pick up the 28g and make it a reef tank?

also, does anyone have humidity problems in their house with multiple tanks? 3 tanks seems to be getting up there and I am worried about evaporation creating humidity.

Reef tanks are awesome, but it will take $$ to get there. On the other hand, you already have a great predator tank. Unless you have the cash and really want a reef tank I'd stay with what you got.
I run multiple tanks in my basement, there is a bit of a humidity issue but a de-humidifier keeps it in check.

To be honest, no one but you can answer that question.
It seems to me though you really want a reef tank, or you probably wouldn't have asked the question.
So spend some time researching what is involved with reef tanks and make your decision based on that.
Myself, I enjoy reefs, though I have to live without a lot of different fish that aren't compatible with a reef tank. I also find larger tanks are easier (though more expensive) due to larger volume of water and greater stability.

+1 on the previous post
I have a couple small reef tanks and you would be surprised how much you can do with them. It has been very fun getting to really pay attention to the details in my nano aquariums.

i know that I want a reef, for sure! the real question is whether to set up a 28 gallon nano cube as a reef or to convert my 110 to reef. I will need a couple of powerheads and some real lights for the 110. the 28 has the lights but will need live rock etc... so I figure the hardware cost would be pretty close between the two, which makes and even tougher decision!

Whatever you think you should do, is the direction you should go. You have to look at the tank, not us.
