I just realized that my tank sprung a leak. My power is cut as everything is wet. i cant find the source and i dont know how long things will last. I need some help. i am in the process of rerouting power to get it going again...

What do you need help with? A spare tank to move your corals, and fish till you repair your tank? Not sure what you mean by rerouting power. Oh, and were are you located?

yeah we need more info. is it a seam in the tank leaking, or a plumbing leak? if it's a plumbing leak, find it and fix it. if it's a tank leak your going to have to get the fish and corals out into another tank, or rubbermaid containers and replace the tank. you can get rubbermaid containers at big lots or kmart for dirt cheap.

I think by rerouting power he he means hes going to hook a few things up to an extension cord in a way to keep the wires dry so he can keep the tank up into he fixes the problem?

okay...update
i think...i think the source of the leak was a media bag that came lose and caused water to run along the back of the tank and under it making it look like the tank was leaking from the support brace under the tank. i hope this is the case since it has stopped leaking.

i ran some extension cords to get power back to the tank so heater powerheads and everything but my light is up. i have til 4:00 when my light is supposed to come on to get that back on, so i am going to get some more power cords.

In any event the tank is going to come down. i have a cheap compressed wood CRAP stand that has caused me great paranoia since it went up. it sustained some damage from the leak and i dont trust it for long!

i need some suggestions on how to do this without losing any of my beloved creatures. i know i need to get the rock out first so i can get to the fish but i am worried about the corals which are on a lot of the rocks...i think its goin to be a mess :(

Everything will be for sale as soon as i figure out what there each worth.

i have a few types of shrooms and neon sea grass? (not sure what the real name is). i got theses a small frags that have grown into monsters. i will try and upload some pics but i have not been lucky in the past, with doing so...

hope this is clear enough to get some ideas :)

thanks for all your help thus far!!!

Where are you located? Im interested in some of your stuff! Maybe ill take everything off your hands pending price and ofcoarse where you live. Earth is a pretty big place LOL

The corals can survive in plasitic storage bins with a powerhead and a heater. When I moved I had a problem setting up my new tank, I kept my corals in the tubs with alot of water, a powerhead and heater for 2 days and they all survived. If you need a stand I have a metal stand for a 55 gl you can use till you get a new one.

I feel your pain.... I just today noticed salt creep in one of my seams and I am going away for a week. its small about an Inch. Do you guys think it will hold up?

Earth is a large place but i live in plainview :)

greggnyce thanks for the suggestion! i am goin to move all the LR to a 20 gallon rubbermaid with heat and powerhead, oh and water :). i am going to leave the pieces with coral in the tank with the fish and then do a water change.

i would like to get some pics up in the gallery but i cant find a way to do so. i can resize them but i dont find any place to add them to my profile or gallery....any help would be great
