Need some help...

The Silvery Gorgorian in this picture, the one right in front of my overflow is losing tissue badly. Especially near the tips.

Does anyone here have any advice for me to try and help him?
Thank you~

If its just a skin-like tissue then don't worry. Mine did a whole skin shed like a snake soon after it went into the tank. I think it may be some sort of protective layer that it develops during the stress of shipping/moving. Anyway, don't worry at this point. My blade gorgonian seems pretty tough. Yours sure is a nice specimen btw.

The shedding behavior is how it keeps from being overtaken by alga and other secondary settlers. The shedding is normal and happens regularly.

By shedding do you mean all the way down to the bare tiny branch or simply sloughing a top layer?
Because this one has lost tissue in s few places all the way down to the bone...so to speak.

Normal stuff...it will regrow!

Great news! Thanks Richard!

While you're here....can you tell me if it's o.k. to use super glue on sponge tissue? I need to secure a few of my sponges but wonder if super glue might be too caustic for them? These don't really have any rock rubble on them or calcified areas. don't want to burn them but need to secure them to the rock so they'll quit falling, blowing over.
Thanks again and hope you're feeling better!

Superglue is fine. They use it all the time for closing cut wounds etc. at the ER. It does not burn or anything and is not caustic at all to living tissue. I usually use some plumbers epoxy and superglue that to the base of the sponge and superglue that to the rock. Just make sure you apply the stuff just under the surface, so the sponge stays wet. A good glob of gel will form a skin that you just need to break with a twist when you stick the frag.

Cool! Thanks a lot Noah!
I was thinking of making sort of a cradle the shape of the sponge base with epoxy, and then putting some super glue on that and then gluing the sponge to the epoxy that way.

Or... I do have frag plugs. I guess I could simply super glue the sponges to the frag plugs and then epoxy the plugs where I want them.
