Everything seemed to be going so well in the cube, and tonight I'm sitting here, feeling like a failure, wondering what's up. Params are all perfect. I've been doing a minimum 10% water change per week, topping off with RO. Mr. Nemo has his white spot issue, that doesn't seem to be ich. May be bacterial. I just don't know. My Zoas that were all doing superb are now closed, only a few heads open. I just don't know what's up. The frogspawn is doing great. The pulsing Xenias are multiplying like rabbits. The green star polyps look amazing one minute, then later, are all closed. I don't know what to do. My beautiful Eye of God Zoas from Sanford were open within minutes of settling in, and now barely a couple open partway. *sigh*

:sad2:

The zoas and other corals sound normal. Mine close for no apparent reason to me. 1 hr ago all my xenia were open and pulsing away. Now they are all balled up in a fist. Who knows!

Thanks Scott. I'm just in a MOOD tonight I think. Adrian's been out of town for work again, and won't be back until tomorrow late, and I'm feeling really betrayed by a close friend over something tonight, etc. etc. I feel like I've done so much research, done this slowly like I should and something just doesn't seem "right" in there. And where's my darn Sexy Shrimp hiding? Have you seen it? Just kidding. Seriously I haven't seen it since I turned it loose tonight.

LOL! Just found it. Perched on one of the Pulsing Xenias. One thing is for sure. I'm really good at raising PXs. I got one piece from Tina with two branches. A rather large piece split off from it on it's own, so I rubber banded it in place as I did the original piece, and now there are "sprouts" in three more places.

Your tank sounds fine. Like Scott said, they (coral) close up for any reason. Irritation, change in environment, an unexpected current blast, you name it, they'll close up shop cause of it. That clown should be quarentined though. Give em a freshwater dip and treat him with some copper in a hospital tank.

Any advice on catching him though? I tried to do the dip this afternoon, but I can't catch him. It's hard in a 8 gallon and not knock everything over. I'll go give it one more go...

That went well...NOT! He's now completely figured out I have his number and is taking full advantage of all those carefully created caves, arches and nooks I created with my live rock. And I just Pi**ed off my pulsing Xenias by knocking their archway over. OOPS!

Where does he sleep? My clowns are easy to catch after the lights have been out for a couple of hours.

Hm...not sure. they're in moonlights now, but I still have tv and lamp on. I think they're still swimming around. I'll try turning the lamp off, and just use the TV for light so I don't kill myself tripping over a greyhound. And see if that works.

Well, he wasn't sleeping. I'm too tired to wait and try again tonight. So I'll try tomorrow night with the entire room dark. I honestly don't know where they sleep so I'll scope them out when I wake up in the middle of the night like I usually do. Groggily stumble in here and spy on them.

place a clear container in the aquarium and even in the panic of chasing him they will often swim into it.
