Need some Tank Advice with Pictures

Theres a couple of parts to this.

I have been noticing these small skinny bumps growing out from my rock. They are hard and cant be just be brushed off. Sorry the pictures are not very good. Also recently I have noticed some build up on my rocks. It doesnt look like cyano that I had in my tank a month ago. (Just put in a brs dual reactor about 3 weeks ago. (Since then I have increased my feeding...I have a feeling this is where the extra debris is coming from)).

While attempting to blow off the debris with a power head (Should I be doing this?). I noticed a lot of stringy stuff starting to float around. I am not sure but I think its coming from these "bumps". Does any one know where these bumps are coming from? Or if they are invasive or should I be worried?

Secondly is the debris a result of lack of flow? I currently use 2 JBJ Wavemakers I believe there both rated to 1600 gph.

Also this all happened a few days ago and I have been trying to blow off the debris a little bit each day. And my leather coral closed up the last 2 days. Not sure if this is a result of all the commotion in my tank. Or a result of the "Stringy" stuff.

It's hard to tell what you're talking about. I see some tubeworms in the second picture. Is that what you're talking about? If so they're not bad. I've always found them to be really cool. Plus they are filter feeders (i.e. they help to filter your water).

Hes some more pictures in case it helps.

Just read the next post. That's actually a different filter feeder. I can't think of the name but I'm pretty sure they're a molusk. They extend a mucous string into the water let it get full of junk and then pull it back and it eat. Their tubes are a little different. Their colors tend to be kind of purplish and their tubes have a different consistency. It's hard to explain without knowing the species. If I can find the scientific name I'll pass it along.

Look up liverock hitch hikers. You should find lots of websites showing good and bad hitch hikers. If they say bristle worms are bad the website has bad info. Find another one.

It's a good idea to keep detritus suspended so that it can get into your filter. If you set up your flow well it should help you do this.

not sure. I wish i knew how to add like an arrow to a picture but what I am talking about is just about in the center of the picture. I couldnt find a good picture of a tube worm off of google to compare it too.

It didnt really come out in the picture with the crap in the water. But it almost looked like spider webs floating around.

How long is your wavemaker cycle? If it's too short the pumps may not have enough time to ramp up to their maximum efficiency.

In the FTS shot you can see I added two extra power heads I had lying around. In the middle and then there is one behind the rock that seems to be helping. But those powerheads click really bad when there are hooked up to the wavemaker. Should a powerhead in that location stay on, or should it be on the "on and off" wavemaker I have?

google vermetid worms, they send out the mucus string you describe. they are normal. keep blowing off your rocks, it cleans the tank out. your tank looks good to me!

I HATE those things!!
I can't tell you how many times I stuck my finger and hand on them.
I used a syringe with vinegar to wipe them out.
To each his own though.... like with many thing in this hobby.

I did some research and I have heard a few different ways to attempt to get rid of them. But no real solution. I assumed you took the rock out to hit them with the vinegar? Did it work?

Thanks Flanders. I wouldnt care that much about them but I think they are irritating my leather.

I will try to take pics with my better camera when the lights come on tomorrow.

Any criticism is appreciated. Trying to take my tank to next level. Pretty new to coral and looking to start adding more soon. Just trying work the bugs out before I start lighting $50 bills on fire.:reading:
