I have a 6000 stream....and a 55g AGA. I need to know the thickness of my tank...i have searched all over the AGA site, RC, and google and cant find the thickness of my glass. Anyone know, dont want to spend 20 more on a magnet too big if i dont need to.

Thanks

My 75-gallon Oceanic Systems tank has 3/8” (9.5mm) thick glass walls. Oceanic Systems is owned by AGA so I believe that your 55-gallon AGA tank is no more than 3/8” (9.5mm) thick. The Tunze 6080.500 magnet should work since it supports glass thicknesses up to 12mm.

You can easily measure your tank glass thickness if the corners are not covered. At the corners, the glass plates are butted against each other. Looking at your tank from the side, you will notice that the front and back glass edges are exposed and green in color. Just measure the thickness of the green edge.

If the corners of your tank are covered, then you may have to be imaginative. One suggestion is to get a C-clamp from a hardware store. Clamp it on your glass. As you remove the C-clamp, count the turns required to loosen and remove the clamp. Repeat the number of turns in the other direction and measure the size of the gap.

You can call AGA at 414-421-9670 or send an email to info@all-glass.com. They were pretty responsive when I last contacted them about buying an AGA cabinet stand for my Oceanic aquarium.
