ok ive only posted once in a while but i had a similar issue with a yellow tail wrasse (vanished and presumed dead)
(this tank is well established , ive had since i was 5 , im 21 now..)
in my tank (150 gallon tall) in the order i have introduced
Invertebrates:
1: large sea hermit crab (green) (docile)
3: small blue legged hemit crabs (docile)
5: feather dusters(one is a dwarf)
1: boxer shrimp (docile)
Fish:
4: orange clown fish (docile)
2: gold clown fish (skittish)
1: Neon dottyback [known territorial](claimed all live rock , which is a lot)
1: strawberry dottyback (docile and hangs with the clowns)
1: [new] six line wrasse ( docile)
1:[new] Hawaiian pebble butterfly fish(docile)

ive had other fish but the power company has killed my power which has killed my fish (puffer, lion , wrasse, trigger, tangs, foxface, eel ) this is my newest attempt at getting fish

ok i have purchased 2 new fish, the butterfly and the wrasse ( i love wrasse's btw had 1 that lasted years, another a day..)

the butterfly is great , is sweet and is the biggest thing in the tank now, the wrasse never burrowed and was great till the neon saw him and is now striking at him every now and then (so far the wrasse has dodged and hid with great skill i might add , clever little fish) i have heard of a similar issue with neon and six line wrasse, but will the neon stop attacking my wrasse soon?

i also plan to get a few more fish soon , not sure what but any ideas on safe fish who wont eat my inverts and other fish and live rock?. :spin1:

Well with six clown fish, problems are likely. In normal sized tanks, a pair is what you can expect to flourish. A neon dottyback is a gorgeous fish that is normally a terror once established.

why are the clown fish a problem? they all school and are nice to the other fish (a few fights with the neon ) but the others are fine with them and vice versa

and i agree with that terror statement i finally got a yellow tail juvenile wrasse, now 2 months later i dont see it so i presume dead and all thanks to that neon dotty

ironically i got the neon dotty cheap due to a labeling error at the store i purchased it from, it was labeled as a goby .. and i dont have a sump to through it in , all i have is a filter (big) , and bubble and current makers

Thanks for the advice , i fully understand that clowns are aggressive fish im under no misnomers of that , i previously had 2 tomato clowns and 2 big gold clowns and they killed each other even in my big 150 gal, and suggestions on new fish that wouldnt be problematic ?

When clown fish mature they will be intolerant of any clown fish other than their bonded mate. In any case clown fish do not school. And for multiple pairs of clownfish, 150 gallons is not a big tank.
