Neptune Apex 2016 Reviews??

lol. Everything I have right now that is DC are over 30 watts. That can't be the limit per port is it?

My return runs at about 96watts
My skimmer's pump at 150watts
ATS leds 54 watts
Display LEDs 165 watts x 3 of them (run each at 100%)
Gyres 50watts x2 of them. (Run both at 100%)

Trying to think if I have anything else DC related.

I do have the AFS module that is powered by the aqualink.

I guess I have 3 dosing pumps but one of them is AC. I'm not sure how many watts they use. Not much. Both just need power on and off via timers.

Eventually I'd love to try the wavs. At some point the DOS to make an automatic frozen food feeder.

If they came out with a stronger pmup I'd use it for my ATO. A stronger Core I'd replace my jebao dct 15000 for my return. If it could match the head pressure of the waveline apex ready dc 12000 I'd slap it on my skimmer too.

I love fusion and have no issue being in one eco system. I wish more things were Apex Ready.

i think it might actually be 35w, but i was being safe.

actually 12v dosing pumps is exactly what i was considering it for. in particular the litermeter pumps which are all 12vdc and seem to be very reliable from the reviews.

i don't get why you're listing off things that wouldn't even make sense to run on the 24v, lol, like gyres have their own controller and you can buy that thing to make them apex compatible, so this isn't how you'd support gyres anyway.

and you're not gonna run your LEDs on it, that's not what it's for, its not dimmable or anything...

for me, i'm considering it mostly as a way to ditch the wallwarts off things...low wattage DC pumps/dosing pumps and accessories, feeders, etc. You save an outlet if you can drive that wallwart driven stuff off the 24VDC instead. And they're switchable just the same as an actual outlet, so no functionality is lost. Oh yeah, feeders, that's yet another thing you can run off it, a superfeeder runs off 12-24vdc, that'd be perfect to wire right in there. there's tons of low wattage stuff. And yeah, this is like an accessory port it's not meant to run pumps, that's what the variable ports are for.....those go up to 100W i think. i was considering running my optical breakout box off it, which is right now consuming outlet 5, it's just 5vdc, was even considering just stealing power from the aquabus since i bet it's 5v like most usb, but eh, lol....not sure apex would support me doing that.

BTW the part that gets warm on mine is basically like right next to where all the 24V / 1link / aquabus ports are...its not say, the middle of the big open area where the DC supply actually is, rather it's off to the side where all the ports are, in that open space under the outlets. i'm guessing it's a rectifier or something, probably the rectifier that's powering the aquabus and all the DC parts of the EB832 is my guess, like all the lights and stuff on it. wonder if they're stepping down 24v to 5v? That'd definitely get warm, lol. Given that nothing else is really being used at the moment on mine in that section, that's my best guess as to why it's warm. I dunno, it's not bothering me that much.

See for me the wall warts don't bother me at all. It's the big honking dc power adapters that I wouldn't mind consolidating. Why wouldn't what I list off be applicable? But the WAV and COR is? I just listed off what I ran for DC.

cause you're bein kinda overdramatic and listing off devices with built in controllers that would be better suited to be controlled by those built in controllers

it's a dc accessory port, lol. not sure what you thought that means, but it doesn't mean plug a 200w lighting fixture into it, you know damn well the power supply in there isn't that big, lol, feel like you're kinda building a strawman argument and/or argument from ignorance.

just a minute ago you wanted it not to be in there at all, now you want it to be replacing 500w+ worth of dc devices, lol, i dont know man, make up your mind...you're starting to seem like the kind of customer who would drive me crazy cause you'd complain no matter what. haha.

No, I don't want it to be in there. and I said BUT if I did I'd want to actually use it. You ask a question and I'm going to answer it. Please don't start going down the insulting road. We already have a controller thread that went south.

My understanding is that it's a 1 link built in right? That powers a Cor or the WAV right? Those are more then just wal wart devices.

i'm not insulting you man, i was agreeing with you much along the way in said other thread, i just want to see you be realistic here with your argument. It was one thing to speculate about a new product that was barely in anyone's hands and had some legitimate design concerns, it's another to pull unrealistic expectations out of the sky when this thing isn't exactly what you wanted it to be, and has some extras you don't care for (built in 1link) so now it has to be more than what it is, instead? When you make the argument like that, you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. Get my rift? Let's keep it real.

and yep, it's a 1link built in, the variable ports support higher wattage than the 24VDC ports, I can't recall the exact specs, but i don't think it's much more than 40-60w per port even on the variable ports.

They're not really wal-wart devices at all, they're devices meant to explicitly be used via the eb832 or via the 1link box. It's total vendor lockin if you are using those devices, but that's nothing we're not all aware of. However, nothing is locked in about the 24VDC ports, if you're realistic about their capabilities, but it's not gonna replace some big laptop-style power adapter that puts out over 100W, of course not, they're all sharing power from that 100W DC power supply, so you may not even be able to use as much as 30W if you are using the rest of this thing to it's maximums.

And I honestly do wonder if the 1link will even be enough to power the COR pump line, i wouldn't be surprised if half the reason the cor pump is not out yet is because they're gotta figure that piece out, lol. but who knows, now i'm just speculating.

Wow, dude did you read my let me have my opinion in peace post? I was ready to just let it die but you keep coming at me with these posts telling me to be realistic. I stated what I would want to get out of it. Being able to control something I find useful. And no I don't even want it in there in the first place. But if I am to upgrade and it's shoved on me then I would use it if I could.

IF I am the only one that feels that way SO BE IT.

Replacing a 3watt wallwart isn't very useful to ME. I understand your point of view. That's what you want to do. Great. sounds cool. But not for me.

I want to know if ALL issues with the new Apex have been sorted out and it is safe to buy one now a days. I want to buy one, just a little afraid of the firmware update issues and other issues with the power bar. Also, do you think that there will be special deals for black friday?
