Neptune's Tropicals

Anyone ever been to Neptune's?

I might stop by today but wanted to get anyone's opinion. I am in need of a good place to get some quality water.

I go to Neptunes at least 2 times a week. Sharon is a great resource to have. There is a lot of quality livestock on hand. Prices are higher but that is due to the fact that she only sells healthy fish.

Chech out the hammer she has in the 120g...it fills the entire tank.

I have used Neptunes for years. They are very famous for two things: 1. The quality/health of their fish. and, 2. They are not the cheapest place in town. If you believe in the saying "You get what you pay for" then this is the place to go.

Sharon (owner) and Patrick (Manager) know their stuff. Try buying a fish and tell them you just bought a tank and are new to the hobby. They will give you lots of advice but WILL NOT sell you livestock untill you bring a water sample for them to test and then, only compatible and healthy (they quarantien ALL livestock) before they will sell it.

You will also get advice from everyone to purchase your own RO/DI system. I ignored all that advice for years and finally broke down and bought one. How did I ever get by before? Great investment.

IMHO the best of the best in denver is Aquamart, Keys Island and, Neptunes. (alpha. order).

Another 'Aye' vote here.

While you're there ask to see their quarantine tanks...each shipment of fish gets a couple weeks of isolation and light medication before being moved to the sale tanks. Date received (and source) are tracked and shown for every fish, even after being moved for sale.

They'll let you hold a fish in quarantine but won't sell it to you until it is deemed safe enough for their own tanks. All in the tank must be symptom free and eating well.

And that display hammer...it was severely fragged a year or so ago...and it has still grown back to fill the tank.

That said, they don't have nearly as big a selection of corals as Aquamart.
