Has anyone run into any flatworms on acropora that just hang out there?
Background: I got a colony from LA and lost it to RTN but fragged tips trying to save it. I have about 3x 1/4" patches on a 2" frag that are growing and encrusting back.
I was blasting some detritus off the frag rack that holds zoas and the one sps frag and just on a whim I picked up the frag and inspected it. I noticed an egg mass, maybe 10 eggs on one mass and 5 on the other.
Here's where I am confused: there are no sps near it. There are no bite marks - anywhere. There was one flatworm.
The patches that were coming back had full PE and showed no signs of stress.
I think there is one reefer on here (I think it's Captain) that has an outbreak of flatworms in his reef from time to time, but they are not AEFW. Is it possible I have just a "normal" flatworm?
I took the frag out of the tank just in case. And no, no other acros have any eggs. I am baffled.
