Never been to a swap before...

What's the usual protocol at these swaps? I'm guessing I should have all the frags individually bagged. Should I bring extra frags?

Trying to just go with the flow but I'd like to know which way it's flowing.

basically bring a cooler or styroform box for storing frags and some cash for purchasing frags anything else you bring is kind of a bonus. some people bring full tanks of frags they setup and some only bring the frags that they have already arranged trades for.
it's usually a great time and winds up being an all day event from setup to cleanup

I would recommend setting up a tank if you have a bunch of frags you want to sell. I would even do that even though they are reserved just due to temp being more stable in a tank than a bag and light of course! A 10gal will work but some bring more elaborate setups but its all on choice. I am sure that there will be plenty of outlets and space for tanks to be setup.

I always bring a setup and put my frags in them! I use a cooler(rubbermaid) that doesn't leak and just made a rack for frag plugs to sit on and fill and carry to the swap! Then once they are at the swap I put them and 20gals of water, powerhead, heater and light on a 20gal tank.

I hope to see you there!

Well being that it's my first time, I think I'll go with a cooler and bags. Don't really have the resources to setup a display tank at this point. And I've been fragging as they're requested so I shouldn't have much extra.

I'm relatively new, so I know how you feel. This is a great group of people, and you have nothing to worry about. I was freaked before attending my first swap and stressed over the protocol also. I don't think I slept the entire night before the first one! Everyone made me feel so comfortable. It's a very down-to-earth get together :-)

Good luck, and looking forward to meeting you!

Vickie, sleep the night before? What is that? I don't think I have ever slept the night before a swap. LOL Of course I am also one of the most crazy reefers in the club as well so I guess the fishmas bug bites me particularly hard.

Have no worries, if you have questions at least one of us/any of us has an answer. Our answers will vary but we will be on the same page. Its all about having fun and learning in the process. I don't think you will find that too many places!

I hope to see you all there and I hope we can all learn and change things as we need to. If anyone has any ideas, suggestions, or things that they want changed; bring it up, we are all willing to try new things and adjust for everyones benefit!

See you all soon!

I don't think I'll be sleeping the night before this one! With the amount of items I have to frag-n-bag and the distance I have to travel... I'll be getting up before my bedtime!

This will be my first swap as well... really looking forward to it! Also, the check was cashed, so i'm now a NCPARS memeber :) (still waiting for my hat w/tassle, directions to the lodge and the instructions on how to do the secret handshake to come in the mail)

Paying your dues is just the price to get you in the door. It's the initiation in the parking lot that is rough!! If you pass that then you get to learn the handshake and get directions to the lodge.

The swaps are truly a family event! It would be hard to meet a better group of people!
