Never give up on your zoas

Over the Labor Day weekend I went out of town and I topped off on Friday afternoon and got back Monday afternoon.

My house visitor did not TO my tank. I forgot to tell her to do it though she has many times before so I blame myself.

When I got home the frag was out of water though the rock was still wet. I left things alone and have been watching the individual polyps stay closed and eventually melt or be eaten.

Last night I looked again and 2 of the polyps have opened up and I may have 2 more that are headed that way.

:D

Thanks.

I have one sitting at home but so far I have decided not to use it.

My system is only a 5.5 and if it got stuck on there could be an issue. I have had tanks watched many times but I forgot to leave directions this time. I was in Cancun for a week earlier this year and everything was fine.

For a minute there I thought you were being sarcastic and some very bad news was coming.

Wheew, glad things worked out for you. Did you ever read the 2 threads here in the zoa forum where the polyps were left out of the tank for several days, or was it months, I can't remember, and they lived. I'll try and find it for you.Yes, it's a true story, check it out.

I have some zoas that went through a huge tank crash... they where closed for months and I was ready to throw them away....they just looked like death... I threw them in my new tank and they are open and happy 3 months later like nothing ever happened.

Good luck to your zoas! They are fighters!

Mucho, I'm very interested in seeing that thread you're talking about...

That's awesome, congrats Steph. I agree, never toss a polyp that appears to be healthy in spite of the tank conditions.

Hey guys.

Yeah I think many things are stronger than we think if we are patient enough to give things a fighting chance. There is no drug store out there yet things manage to recover pretty well.

No Mucho I have not read those articles and if you find them please post.

Years ago I had bought some Tubbs Blues, yeah I don't like names either, but this is one of those that seems to justify a name because they exhibit the same colors in everyone's tanks.

Sadly they still can cost even though they have been arround forever and not LE but that is for another time.

Anyways another local and I got some from Paul W. over in OK (I think) and the first frag had been exposed to the heat pack and melted so we got another. This one was great no problems. I glued it down and it stayed put for about a week until I bumped it and I saw it tumble behind some rock.

It was between 5 to 10 polyps but I could not find it. About 2 months later I was redoing my scape and I dug it out of the sand. It was polyp down and in the dark. I glued it back and it came back.

Sadly I lost that due to a tank issue.
