Hi,

Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m currently setting up a 190 gallon reef tank (AGA 79" x 24" x 24"). Here are some photos of the first stages of this project.

This post is also in the Portuguese reef forum: http://www.aquariofilia.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=94693#94693

Photo 1 ââ"šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ Glass panels. It was not possible to carry the tank already assembled to his final location.

wow, ricardo ive never seen anybody setup a glass aquarium by themselves! you must be good at it. looks good keep us posted!

Wow!!! That is really impressive that you two did that.... Great look too!!!

I have a question... I see only one overflow box in the tank??? Are you also doing a closed loop??? Or are you just going to run power heads to move water in the tank... Just curious...

Great Job on the tank!!!! :D

U have to be proud of yourself --that looks amazing tank was sure lighter to carry that way !!

hope u keep your house 4 a long time or u would have to sell tank with the house !!

Thanks 4 sharing and plese do more pictures !!

WE will be a wachin !

Hi,

Answering your questions:

kyle10 - Sorry I don't know what do you mean with euro bracing could you explain better?

Ron Leverse - The overflow box is going to have a PVC fitting for the fishes "don't take off" to the sump. Is that you're asking about bracing? I got the glass panels from my glass local store (here in Portugal, Cascais).

Setup:
Lights - 2 x HQI 250W (AB 10.000K) + 1 x HQI 150W (AB 10.000K), T5 actinic;
Water circulation pump (900gph) + 2 x Tunze turbelle stream 6080 (2245gph);
big skimmer (32" reaction chamber, 900 gph pump, air injection);
water top-off system with kalk addition;
Ca reactor.

Hi,

Some more photos.

The aquarium was used as a stand due to lack of space for the wood structure assemblage.

The real fun begin!

Soft corals corner (Zoanthus sp., Protopalythoa sp., Sarcophyton sp., Sinularia dura).

Bangaii cardinalfish pair (Pterapogon kauderni) and Trachyphyllia geoffroyi.

Aiptasia eater (Chelmon rostratus) and Amphiprion ocellaris male. Sarcophyton sp. frags.

I've had to remove some hard corals (Turbinaria reniformis, Fungia sp.) to a 3-year-old established reef aquarium because they weren't "enjoying" the new aquarium. Maybe due to the new water or old hqi lamps. The white Xenia is going to disappear also due to lack of nutrients in the water.

Best regards,
Ricardo Rodrigues

Still holding water?

Still holding water?

I am planning on doing something similar to what this person did.

Does anyone know:

-Is the tank still holding water w/o leaks?

-What glass thickness was used on sides and bottom panes of glass?

-What silicone was used (Brand, Name, Company, Sku#, etc)?

-built Sides on top of bottom or surronding bottom plate of glass?

The tank is almost 3 years old and is doing great. Answering your questions: Glass thickness is 12mm; the silicone I usually use is from Henkel, I choose transparent because I like it better than black; the bottom plate is surrounded by the front, back and lateral plates of glass.

Recently I've done a small video about this tank click here

Good luck with your project.
