So i'm upgrading from my 150G , to a 240G ,3 sided starfire with a black back , center calfo overflow. tank is going to be barebottom with 3/8's black starboard going to try and put it into the tank in two pieces with a locking edge , i'm also going to route the edges facing out so it looks rounded. I'm wondering how this is going to look , i think it will look nice but jury is still out.
Dims are going to be 72x30x26 eurobraced
Lighting , 2x 36in ATI 10 bulb fixtures. ( Ditching the 400w halides )
Custom , 40G sump, 40G fuge.
4 vortech's from the old tank. ( in the name of simplicity not going to go closed loop, and saving a little power ) (i have two additional , if needed ) Might end up needing more than 4 vortech's .
AIT Bm250 skimmer .
RKE from the old tank
Geo 6x18 from the old tank
Kalkstirer from the old tank
Arctica 1/3 from the old tank
2 drews dosing pumps ( vodka, mag ) old tank
Issue i have going on is deciding on return pumps. I'm still debating what's the best choice here multiple small pumps ( would allow me to shut some off if not needed, or turn on an additional for the chiller ect if required )
Also i am hoping i generate less heat from the lighting and the existing chiller i have will be sufficient, it hardly turns on now.
Placement of the vortech's will be on the back high center of the tank, about 18 inches high, with two set in inverse mode.
If someone has some suggestions on return pumps. I'm actually liking the idea of multiple small pumps like ehiems or tunze's plumbed with check valves into a single line. This would allow the system to run as quiet as possible. I will be only dealing with 5FT of head pressure , although i'm not sure how much head pressure plumbing into a single 2IN or 1.5 line will cause .
I'm also worried about moving all my corals since all i have is sps from the 400 MH's i have now to the T5's but i think in the end it will be a worthwhile choice .
If anyone has tips on what i need to watch out for ect, any input would be greatly appreciated .
