New 36g bow front

well this is my first attempt at a salt water aquarium. So far i got a 36g bow front with about 35 pounds of substrate and 26 pounds of live rock. I just added a clown fish yesterday and he seems to be doing great.

Only thing i have been worried about is my filtration, im using the aqueon power filter that came with the tank kit, and have a 550 gph powerhead on the way to help water movement. This tank will most likely stay fowlr.

So if anyone has any info or tips for it would be much appreciated

Looking great in that tank I would put in over time a coral beauty or flame angle a pair of clownfish some snails and maybe a dotty back if you like them I would stay out of reef for first time trust me I know they are all money pits if you lose a coral your out 10 to 900 bucks

Oh and by the way I would upgrade to a marine land 360 canister filter I have one on my 70 and it works great provides a good flow but beside that your tank is awesome

it cycled for about 3 weeks, i took my water to a LFS and got them to test my water to see if it would be ok to add a fish. They said everything looked good, so i added the clown.

is my HOB filter enough for my set up, or will i need a protien skimmer or some other filtration, i have been so lost about the filtration, everyone seems to say something different.

The best advice I can give about filtration is this... Every single tank is different which means the way each tank is "filtered" will be different. I have three tanks and run them all differently. Take everyones advice and knowledge and make your own decision. Sometimes it's a little costly but the best filtration method for you is what YOU find to work best through trial and error.

For the record... I've tried a skimmer once and hated it, never used one again, but you might love them like many others. I on the other hand am able to keep my reef, fowlr, and macro tanks running smooth as silk without them.
