new 75 gallon tank

i just had a buddy of mine install a 75 galon saltwater tank witha refuge. how long will the cloudyness last and when is it safe to add live rock?

anything i can do to get rid of the coudyness it had been about 1 day now and it still hasnt gone away.

Why is it cloudy?Did you add sand or cc?

You can add the live rock right away. This will help in getting the sand to settle.

The cloudynss will settle in a few hours, and will become crystal clear in a day or two, as long as the filter is on. Without running the filter the cloudyness will last days.

i cant see anything too add the live rock and i just put a bag of sand in it.

Go ahead and add the live rock if your salinity is okay (1.023-1.027). It will settle eventually.

i will settle in a few days. probablly will have settled alot by the time you get the LR. once you put the LR in it will help it settle faster.

good thing you arent my friend i would be messing with you. something like. oh no man!! you got freshwater sand. now your tank cant be used for SW because the sand leached toxins into the glass. i guess you will have to make a FW tank now. i can give you $50 for it!! LOL its amazing i havent been shot

Some times it takes 2-5 days for the tank to start to get clear. My 75 when I added a 3-4'' sandbed a year ago took a week to get settled down and clear.

ok i added the live rock and some snails and some hermits. still cloudy though..kind of worries me becuase my old fresh water turned milky looking like this,that is why im nervous. although the homemade protein skimmer is kinckin butt now. hopefully that will help. but if you guys say give it a week....ill believe ya.
