It's a female Rose Hair Tarantula. Pretty cool!

I completely agree! I have a big ol' shoe that would work well on that beast too. I hate spiders....shiver. To each their own I guess...:)

My policy is that I don't trust anything with more than 2 eyes or 4 legs... spiders violate this rule more than just about any other creature I can think of.

If I had that thing in my hand, you'd be able to see the goosebumps on my arm in the picture.

I think this is the can you need :)

Seriously though, it's pretty cool, just not my thing.

Not a fan either. :) I'm sure I could find a nice black widow out here for you. Found them in the garage, found them in the basement, found them outside.

I guess they will bite if they need too. It's not somethin' that I will get out and handle everyday though. I just had to get a pic holding it. It didn't bite, just left some webs on my hand and arm. It's just somethin' I'll get out for a minute when company comes over.

I thought you were going to post a picture of an empty Wallet.:D

this is my first spider and from all I read, the rose hairs are the easiest and best first spider. They are fine at room temp. Some say low humidity, some say moderate. I figured if the humidty is around 60% should be fine. Maybe a little more when it's gonna molt. Feed it a couple crickets a week. Change the bedding 2 times a year. Very easy to care for. They let this one breed with a male they had. So, I'll be havin' a egg sack soon. I'll be takin' it to AC cause I don't wanna mess with the incubating eggs and raisin' baby spiders. I finally got her setup hooked up. I did have her in the roiund container she came in, which was fine, but now she's got a nice setup with a hide log.

Yea, I'm very pleased with it. I always wanted a tarantula. Finally started doin' a little research and talked to Jeff at AC about one. The tarantula was $20, bedding was was around $7. I already had the tote, the plant, hide log, and digi temp humidity guage. Still some people I know are freaked out about it. They are freaked out about the snakes too. Oh well!

Oh well, indeed! :)

I will probably eventually have snakes, but not right now.

Man, I saw a snake at PetLand about 8 months ago that was BEAUTIFUL. It was actually a cross-bred snake, according to the employee... it was a Pine Mountain snake mixed with something else... it was black and a cream color in a beautiful pattern... I wish I would have found out more about it. Needless to say, it didn't take very long at all and it was GONE! :)

I have a weakness for small snakes, but I'm so afraid that if I get one, it will get out and I'll never be able to find it! hehe

I think I'd better stick to getting my 45g tank up and running for now... :)

if you want a snake, go see anyone at AC. I always deal with Jeff. If you want somethin' that stays small. The western hognose's stay pretty small, the females only top out around 3ft. They are fun at feedin' time. Mine acts like its a cobra or somethin'. It starts head buttin' the mice then it getis in this position and starts hissin' then strikes. Pretty cool. Corn snakes are good too, they only get around 4-5ft. Sand boas stay small too.
