New Additions - Borb and Mitratus

Thought I'd share my two new additions. I received both of these guys last Friday, they have been in my 50 gallon QT for one week as of yesterday, only 5 more weeks to go. Both are eating mysis well, but haven't taken anything else. I'm sure if I offered a littleneck clam, the Mitratus would be all over it.

Peter, if you come across this thread, your little Mitratus inspired this purchase.

I noticed last night that the Anthias had what appeared to be flukes, so I decided to go ahead and start dosing API General cure. I dipped the anthias this morning, which made me really nervous, because I have never owned, let alone dipped an Anthias before. I'm happy to report though that no flukes came off and that the flashing behavior and the two flukes I saw last night have both disappeared. I'll go ahead and do the second treatment as the instructions recommend tomorrow night anyway though. This is my first time using the General Cure and i've been happy with it so far, I typically use De Los for flukes.

These two will be some of the last additions to my all ready over completed 120 FOWLR. The only things missing are my pair of flashing tile fish.

Good Luck. I picked up a pair of Borbs this week. So far they are eating live brine, frozen brine, at Reef Nutrition OTO pellets.

Thanks, the FW dip made me nervous, but he seems to have come through none the worse for wear. Hope yours do well also. Have you owned anthers before? Any tips? Feed often I've heard, I do that anyway.

Beautiful fish, and I'm really like that borbonius... May have inspired me to pick one up when I get around to setting up the next tank

Lookin' good! My little mitratus is still in QT... doing well...eats all frozen food, no pellet or flake yet. I think I'll drop him in the DT soon....

I'm worried about aggression from the semilarvatus and the PBT when I introduce them. I just put my black dogface puffer back in the DT from a long term stay in quarantine and they didn't bother him though, so maybe there is hope.

When I added my starki damsel, that stupid PBT went nuts. The damsel is a sump dweller at the moment.

I took a video, but had trouble uploading to photo bucket. I'll try again tomorrow.

Glad to hear the migrants is doing well, I'll be curious to hear how your semi treats him.

.

I'm concerned the PBT is that aggressive to a starkii... it doesn't bode well for the butterfly.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the opportune moment for an eviction. I can catch all of my fish in the DT easily, except that one. I could catch my purple tiles by hand if I wanted to.

Im hoping that with the commotion of adding a new fish, it will give me my window of opportunity to catch him. I've got some time to divide my plan.

Tried a trap? IME the hardest thing about a trap with tangs is keeping them OUT of it when trying to catch other fish

While I use the one from Marine Depot, I have to say I don't recommend it... good design, poorly executed.

I have been looking at the Aqua Medic trap. Available online. Looks ok, just don't know anyone who has used one.

I think that's a good one. If I'm not mistaken, it has a glass door, so it's heavy enough to fall smoothly and quickly.

Peter, can you comment on your Mitratus breaths/minute. I'm worried the API general cure is adversely affecting my mitratus and want to be sure i'm not just being over observant and looking for a problem that's not there.

Happy to report that these guys both came through the General Cure treatment well. Yesterday marked the third week in Quarantine. Both fish prefer mitratus, but also have started accepting pellets and Rod's reef blend.

I'm beginning their cupramine treatment today and once that's over, I think i'll be turning them loose into my DT. Only 4 more weeks to go.

Good to hear... my mitratus is still doing well in QT. I'd prefer to get him eating pellets before he hits the DT, so it may be a while.

I know I'm late but...

I have the aquamedic fish trap. The trap works great however the directions are the absolute worst I've ever encountered in a product. Just keep messing with it or search out the directions on youtube. The trap serves double duty as a really nice acclimation box as well....

Great looking fish you have there caribfan!
