Today I went to Petco to purchase some heaters for my 2 tanks. They have been running around 75 and we keep it pretty cool in our house.
Anywhoo...
I stop in there from time to time to see what is new. I go to the one in St.Lucie West. The guys that run the fish department are seasoned salt water experts and own reef tanks of their own. I ask challenging questions to sorta check them out. In the past I purchased a pair of clarki's, a mandarin, scooter blenny, sixline, pair of Lyretail Anthias, and a LTA. All of which are alive and well.

Well for the past few weeks there has been a Foxface and a Kole Tang there. Today I noticed the Kole had lost an eye and some of it's tail fin from a fight against a couple of Yellow Tangs (I hate them). The fins will heal in time but I am sure it's eye is a loss. I felt horrible and felt the need to rescue this fish. I am sure no one would have purchased him in this condition and he would have had to be eventually euthanized. They gave him to me for $10. He is acclimating right now and hiding in the rock work.
I also picked up the Foxface as well. I had a 25% off coupon and I felt he was a decent deal and I have been wanting one for my 55gal. Right now he is ****ed and changing colors. I am going to post some pics when they calm down and are fed. I wish I had a QT tank but I have been keeping my eye on these guys for a few weeks at Petco. Once they have fish there for a while you can usually talk them down. I got like 10$ off the Anthias this way.

I will keep you posted on their progress and post pictures soon.:(

Got my fingers crossed for ya with the new Kole!!

I had one a while back.....great personality in those fish. (o:
If memory serves, he had a few things go wrong, but he always bounced back just fine. I only lost him due to a total tank crash.

Anyway....again.....good luck. Keep us posted. And post some pics..... (o:

He is swimming more and is starting to poke his head out of the rocks. I can't get close to see him. When I approach the tank he retreats.
We are calling him Willie. (One eyed Willie from the Goonies!) Lol...

The Foxface is named Spike for obvious reasons.

HaHa!! Willie.....I Love It!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one that names things in my tank. And it's funny you picked an older movie. I pick alot of the names for my animals from older shows/movies.......and my kids have No Clue who or what I'm talking about.

My green trumpet.....is Gomer Pyle.
The colt coral I had......was Mr. Ed.

I had to pull up some old videos on YouTube to show them. hahaha

Glad he's doing good.......(o:

My kids love the old stuff. We all love the Goonies. My daughter loves "I love Lucy" got her a CD set for Christmas. My son loves "The Three Stooges" got him one too!

You know what they say, "They don't do it like they used to."

Update!
He is doing incredibly well. He is venturing out alot today. He comes out picks at a few rocks and then runs back in. It was challenging to catch a picture of him. Here is the best I can do. You can see the eye that was damaged but it is healing quite nicely and I am optimistic that he might have limited vision.

Well guys, today I found Willie and he was gone. I hope he was happy his last 2 weeks and at peace. I feel terrible that he didn't make it. I tried to get him to eat but he wouldn't eat much. He ate some of the algae sheets. He has not come out for 2 days and was hiding again. I don't know what happened. I think it may be from his injuries. I miss him, he was real sweet.
:(

Awwwww.....I'm sorry to hear that he's Gone.
I've cried over losing fish. They have such individual personalities.....I have a fish right now that I KNOW I'd cry if she died.........you kinda get to know your fish.....I'm weird, I guess. LOL
RIP Willie!! I'm sure he was much happier in your tank than in the fish store.......
