New Batfish with tear in fin

I picked up a Batfish from a LFS and it had a hole in it's fin. Well, now the hole has become a tear.

It eats fine (at least so far) and looks fine (other than the tear). It's in the hospital tank with some other new fish, but wondered if he's going to have any problems down the road with the torn fin? He seems to move around fine, but wanted to check and see if this might be a common issue with Batfish, especially when they get older and get a long, flowing fin.

thanks,
Chris

It should heal soon on its own.

BTW, it kinda defeats the purpose of a quarintine or hospital tank when you have multiple fish in them.

Thanks for the info.

Sorry I wasn't clear, they are all new fish (purchased at same time). Granted, it might be best to do one fish at a time, but at least for me, it doesn't always work out that way.

Well, the problem with it, is if one fish has a problem, is carrying a parasite, or infection, now all your new fish are being exposed to it.

it also does not give the fish a chance to settle it, and get accustomed to your feeding. Instead, they must compete with all the others in a less than idea environment.

I will step off my soapbox now.
