New Birmingham Reefer

We have a timed thermostat so that the AC is set high during the day when we aren't home. Yesterday when I got off work the tank was approaching 82. Should I change something up or will this be ok? I had to have to run the AC all day cause my power bills will go through the roof.

Here are some pics of my setup:

Now just waiting for the cycle to end. I'm checking Nitrite ever couple of days. Since the rock is uncured, I figured I'd wait until it starts dropping off to look at everything else.

A couple of questions:
Should I be doing water changes? Should I turn on the lights or keep them off? Should I brush the stuff off the rocks?

Thanks,
Jason

82 degrees with lights on does not sound too bad to me.

Your tank looks great. I'd just let it cycle on its own. I would not do any water change at this point, if I were you. No need to brush things off the rocks, either. As for turning light off or on, it is really up to you. I don't think it makes much difference for cycling the tank. I normally keep the light on for 8 to 9 hours on my display tank based on the hours I am around (like 2 pm to 10 pm.) Other people do it differently.
