New Blastos are they wellsi or merllat what? lol

I just got a Blasto Frag from Thatpetplace in Lancaster. Good deal i thought it was on sale for $30.

There is 1 large polyp and 2 smaller halfs (from the frag).

They are bright orange, how can i tell which type of blastos they are?

Also right now i just have the frag sitting on top of the sand, is this ok or do they NEED to be attached?

And how should i feed them if at all?

you have that backwards.

Yup, merlettis are smaller and branching (sometimes seem submassive, but will stalk out eventually) and wellsi's are the large heads that don't stalk out.

Any suggestions on feeding it, its definently a wellsi then..

I'd give it med light and flow (near bottom of tank for MH). They eat, but very slowly. You can feed, but there is no need to.

I feed mine about once a week. both my wellsii and merletti get target fed mysis. the tanks get cyclopeeze twice a week.
