new build questions

Ok I am about to build (upgrade)my 30g reef tank to a 55 in wall but was thinking about a 75 because I would like it to be wider. So the question is will my equipment work for the 55 or 75 if not what would be good to use or need.

Right now I have a 2 mh 175w 14000k units aquarium systems hang on backskimmer(hoping it can go in sump)2 hang on back overflows same as cpr 50 2 300w heaters and getting a mag7 return pump

So let me know what's good for this build and what's not thanks

Everything looks fine for what you have listed, only thing I would upgrade is the skimmer if your utilizing a sump. Also I don't see any power heads in your list ? you will need more in-tank flow from something other then your return line..

Heehee saw mine in the wall and had to do it huh... lol

Yep, everything should work. As said, you'll probably need a bit more flow in tank, but that's fairly easy with a couple of powerheads.

Also, if it's a new build you can consider drilling. Won't cost you much, just the overflow box and a bit of time, but well worth it IMO.

Well right now I have a 55g tank but would like to find a 75 allready drilled if anyone is selling one

Oh, and not to be a pain... but you should try to use some punctuation in your posts... makes them much easier to read/understand.

+1 to ditching the hang on back overflows. It will be very annoying for you to have to run behind the scenes if you lose suction. You can always run your HOB skimmer in a sump to get it out of your DT, until you upgrade that too.

While a 75 isn't much more expensive than a 55. A 90 gallon wont cost you much more than a 75, and the tank is a bit deeper. This goes without saying, a 120 isn't much more expensive than a 90 etc. Before you decide to cut open, or build a new wall, make sure you love the tank dimensions.

It was more the girlfriend saw it in the wall. Lol

Well I am remodeling anyway. As for bigger this tank is going in my bedroom wall so I don't want it too big for now.

Smart move. The depth gives you many more options rockscape wise more sand bed for lower light corals and swimming room for fish. I would also consider a 90 if I were you.

I was thinking going with a 90. I have one but if I used it I would have to find a 125 for my sharks.

So I guess the search is on to find a tank for my wall build. Anyone have a tank for sale? Looking for a big tank at a good price.

Well I almost had a 150g for the wall build had everything all set to pick it up tomorrow and then they tell me its cracked.
