Got my xmas gift early. Have the Canon EOS Rebel XSi. Just been running the standard 18-55mm lens for now and hope to get the macro for my B-day in Jan.

I blame Tiff! She inspired me to get the cooler camera and I just hope I can get cool pics like she did.

I took 500 pics in the first 2 days! Most were of my son's 2nd birthday, but the rest were tank. :)

Still playing with it, so be gentle.

Here it goes...

Yes I agree on the photos very nice tank and nice pictures, I have an xti I use and when you use M mode for manual your photos will be a lot crisper and not washed out so you will end up with some very nice pictures, You can keep the AF option on for the lens till you get use to moving it yourself as well.

You can also look into changing a couple things in the manual setting, so that you focus one a main subject and everything else in the background seem to be blurrer almost and or almost distant in affect.
Heres a quick example with my xti, with the 18-55 lens as well, see how the one area looks almost blurred?

Just keep snapping pictures and playing with the settings I mean thats why you have a delete button right? have fun with it.

I haven't even read the manual yet. lol
Have to shut off the flash in the settings otherwise it insists on using it for the tank.
I'm having fun and definately know where the delete button is. :)

You can surf the web for deals on a nice big CF card there was a 16gig one from black friday for like $30 great deal. I picked up a 8 gig cf card from frys for $20 only reg like 50-60 on a regular sunday type of deal, so just keep an eye out def. helps with the having to delete/upload less often.
