Looking into purchasing a reasonable priced camera. Is there anything decent for under $500.00,or under $1000.00. Not trying to cause a dispute here ,just seeking advice.
Thank You Greg

What kind of photos are you going to be taking? Do you want to take the DSLR plunge or something slightly simpler?

Take a look at cameras like the Canon S2 IS, S3 IS, or the Fuji S9000/S9100 to start with. If you're willing to delve into the DSLR market take a look at the Canon XTi, Nikon D70 or D40, Olympus Evolt, or Sony Alpha.

Just to give you some places to start getting an idea as to what you want.

And Fred Miranda's site has some fairly OK reviews too.

Raven thank you dont know what DSLR is I awn two old 35mm minoltas taking up dust. Looking to take pictures of tank and also i race sprint cat would like to take pictures of that, so kind of all around usage.
Thank You Greg

If the Minolta 35mm camera's you already own are any one of the "Maxxum" serie's, the lenses you already own for these camera's should all be compatable with the Sony alpha!.What model camera's are they?If they have removeable lenses they are "SLR" camera's (single lense reflex)."DSLR" camera's are very simular to these..."D" simply represent's "digital". If you already own any "Minolta A-mount" type lenses, I would recomend Purchasing the Alpha camera body only (apr $700) wich would allow you to use your existing lens inventory. If you decide you want a more simple camera (without removeable lens),the Canon A710IS can be had for less than $400 and also has an auto stabilization mode...

Thank's BodiBuilt the old Minolta is a X700, the other is a srt 101.I was looking at the Fuji S9100 that was nice. I will look at the two models you recomended.
