new clown

i picked up another true perc today and the other clown has been picking on him pretty much all day .... they are kinda close in size but the old one is a little bigger... my question is will they eventually get along or will they always fight? on the other hand the new one imediately went into the BTA which the other hasnt wanted nothing to do with

Try putting up a mirror where the other clown hangs out. IME it distracts the fish enough to give the new guy a break.

Was the new clown in agroup where you bought it or was it by itself, because if it was by itself, you may have bought a female and introduced it to a tank with another female. If thats the case, the fighting will never stop. Thats why you have to try to by clowns always at the same time or close to it! it only takes a clown3-7 days to turn into a female from a male if it is on its own or there is no other female present. GL!

If they are similar in size chances are they will not stop fighting. Sorry to tell you that. JOHNNY

Maybe pulling them both out of the tank and re-introducing them at the same time... That's what we do for other fish who fight, right? (tangs, etc?)

Oh, and illal, thanks again bro. The wrasse dealt with a little bit of fighting, but he's doing well.

What was he eating before? I fed some pellets but he was more interested in swimming those loops that wrasses always swim around rocks. Hope the coral is doing well

maybe ill try and pull the old one and hold him in the sump for a week and try again though it has gotten a little better.... the new clown was in a tank with about 20 other clowns so i think its a male

reefwreck- he always ate just about anything ive tried but he seems to like nori and mysis the best... my girl really wanted a frag of the green monti cap but maybe next time

I'll try feeding some nori. He probably just has to chill a bit before eating.

Sorry about the green monti cap. You shoulda spoke up. It's cool though, I'll bring it next time we're somewhere, frag swap, meeting, etc. No problem at all. I'd have you guys drive up, but I don't know if you would want to drive that far for 1 frag, but just let me know when we can meet up and I'll be more than happy to bring it.

Glad to hear that it looks like the clown is doing better. They might be fine after the first day or so.

I saw a bunch of tank raised true percs at Coral Reef Aquatics

it was actually in a tank marked Ocellaris but there was this one that had alot of black that really stood out and actually matches the one i already had pretty good so i got him anyways... not to mention it was black friday at big al's so i got him for $6 ill post a pic if i could get a good one
