Hi All,

I always enjoy a build thread, so i figured i'd add mine to the list.

Myself and my brother-in-law are going start-up doing some aquaculturing out here in Oz with some general coral selling.

this is going to be our office.Yes, that 2nd story space. even though it looks small, and it is a bit, it's free rent and we don't have a store front except for online. we are starting small for the time being.

hopefully get the floor done tomorrow and get the insulation in the roof.

any questions and suggestions are always welcome.

Hey mate,

So are all your prop tanks etc going to be in that space your building up the top o the warehouse? Do you have plans for the system yet and what your going to be aquaculturing? Interested to see how it goes.

hi chow1388, yes all the prop tanks are going to be in that space (for the time being). we are starting small and will build things up as we get bigger.

the prop tanks are going to be actually 1 mtr x 1 mtr x 30 cm tubs. we have 8 of them. Stuff we are planning in the system is skimmers, remote deep sand beds.

going to be aquaculturing mushrooms, softies, zoos, acans and acro's.

building update...

floor is down and 2 panels for the roof are on. it's been 34 degrees C here today so work has been slower than usual.

Floor joists are installed

On a side note, we had some good news today. a locate marine store is scaling down their business and selling out all their prop tanks and 2000 odd frag plugs and everything else you could want. We get a price on some of the stuff tomorrow but he is selling very very cheaply!!! very lucky for us.

We have hit the jackpot. for a start-up business it doesn't get much better than this.

we bought some tanks from a propogation retail business today

it includes everything, pumps and lights too. and all for under $300

interesting find chow.. we found them last sunday... we know the guy from coral plantations but unfortunately he wouldn't remove the listing... but we did get the other tanks before he put them up on ebay. now we just have to wait till tuesday. hopefully you will see them again in our system soon ;)

Well it looks like the Gold Coast can't support 4 dedicated marine LFS's...well 5 if you count the new store on the Tweed. Which is quite nice btw

Reef Secrets still has the best selection though

;)

i agree biggster. lots of competition in such close proximity to each other. even though reef secrets has a dirty shop, they do have the best selection around.

ok update.

Walls are up and insulation is in

pics of inside the room... yes it is a bit small, but how much room do corals need... the grey stuff on the floor is the water proofer

tomorrow i start cleaning...:eek1:

With the kind of water volume you are going to have in a fairly enclosed area what are you going to do reduce humidity? Also, maybe I missed it but how are you going to handle making water and topoff.

Thanks

Ben

the system above is 1330 litres (351 gallons). we are running an airconditioner in the room that will remove the humidity.

we are right next to the sea so will be using NSW but topoff water is going to be done through a flozone RO unit. Not sure yet how we are going to deliver the topoff water though
