New frag... cut dead part or will it grow over

Hey guys I just got a cheap frag from my lfs and it has some dead on the top with algae growing on it. Frag is fully encrusted and healing but my question is should I cut the dead part or will it eventually grow over it?

I would cut it off..... it should heal fast....unlikely to grow over and if it did would take a long time

They will grow back over. It takes a little time though. I have a garf bonsais that died while I was in PR for work, it is growing back over itself slowly but surely

cut, it will cover the cut faster than fighting the algae.
