New Goni Question

Hi all, I just got a small propigated purple Goni frag and was curious when I can start feeding it. The arms are starting to extend (2nd day) but the actual polyp "tentacles" have not. Is it even possible for a Goni to eat when the polyp "tentacles" are not extended? Below is a quick picture of the Goni in question.

just spray it with some food, it's not going to hurt it. I usually try and feed my lps as soon as possible after putting them into my tank just to give them the extra nutrition to make the transition easier.
