I have admired from afar all of the large reef tanks on this forum. Finally, when my wife said she wanted to build a new house, I used that opportunity to design in a large tank of my own. We are building a ranch with a walk-out basement and she told me the downstairs was mine :spin3:.
I originally wanted to go with a 120" x 36" x 36" tank and put it in a wall at a corner so I could view from the front and the end. After pricing them out, I was a little discouraged. But I ran into a guy who had a tank that he had never even taken out of the crate that was designed for a peninsula build that is 108" x 48" x 36". I snapped it up. It was built by Aquatic Ovations, which is no longer in business, but the build quality seems solid. No cracks or any other blemishes that I can see.
Here is the layout of the space it will occupy:

And Here are some pictures as it sits now (in my possession);

The sump that came with it is 150 gallons and all glass. The three clear sides of the tank are 3/4" starfire glass and the overflow end is painted black. He had two 3" holes drilled inside the tank - one on either side of the overflow and 1-3/4" holes drilled in the top rim on each corner.
He said the holes on top in each corner were for sea swirls, but he could not remember what his plan for the holes on the end were for.
I am currently having a steel stand made for this thing. In the meantime, any ideas on what I should do for flow in this tankwould be reatly appreciated!
Pete
