got a mag 5 and i plug it in and nothing, is that just the impeller or is it shot? nothing at all happens when i plug it in

i just got a used sendra 9000 from a guy. it hasnt been used in over a year and it wouldnt turn over. i had to use needle nose to get the impeller out. the magnet cylinder split and it was stuck pretty good.

Rob:

If it is a new pump it shall work out of the box, just insure there is power in the outlet, otherwise I will return it, even if it is ony the impeller.

no, not trying to run it dry, should I? it's not new, I've been using it. now it just doesn't do anything when i plug it in, don't know if it can be repaired?

Was it out of the tank for any period of time? I have seen the magnets split if you don't flush them out with freshwater befor storing them.

Mag Drives run a little hot, that heats create carbonate precipitation (Scale) which can lock the impeller.
Remove the pump cover and let the pump soaking in vinager over night to dissolve the scale. Pull the impeller out and inspect it for breakage, if it is OK just insure it is clean, Use the vinegar and a round small bottle brush to also clean inside the rotor housing.
Rine the marts in tap water and reasemble.
This cleaning is recommended a minimum of every six months with every three months being optimal.
If it has not locked the cleaning will be ase easy as running the pump submerged in 50% vinegar 50% water solution.
