It's been in QT for a week and no ich yet. The plan is to replace the purple tang in the display with this fish. Can you tell why it's also called a Spot-Cheeked Surgeonfish?
mine never really ate like a "Tang" he mostly picked at things, he perfered to graze on an algae sheet rather than getting fed at one time. my current tang is like that also.

So far it is eating all of the excess algae in the QT tank. I think it might have picked at flake food a little. I am not going to move it to the display until I see it eat something prepared. I will have to algae sheets soon. The good thing is it's fat. Not getting thin at all.
What kind of prepared food has your fish eaten Matt?

mine loved formula 1 & 2 frozen and flakes. loved cyclopseeze freezer bar. Loved the algae sheets. And of course loved the gracilaria.
he just never really stuffed himself or got supper fat like vlaminigis or other crazy tangs do. he prefered to eat llike an anthias. little bits here and there throughout the day.
by the way this is probably my second favorite fish, becuase it acts just like a sohal (without the meaness) and has really a uniqe striking beatuy.
I was watching that special documentary series. (Blue Seas, Ocean Blue, something like that). A whole school of convict tangs swam in. The way these guys protect their territory is amazing.
