New logo thread.

I will be posting my ideas for a new logo in this thread. Subscribe to the thread to keep updated. I will come up with a couple of versions and anyone else is welcome to add entries as well. Once we have a couple we like we can have a vote on the thread or just amongst the officers and go from there.

We'll try to get the logo on the new club cards, the website, and out to the merchandize website so people can get t-shirts or for those of you who prefer just to support our club by wearing the DRC thongs can do that as well.

The current logo is this image:

It has also been seen as the image with the words: "Delaware Reef Club" around it.

Here is the first one I started working with while we were at the meeting. The image is of "Frenchy" my French angelfish that passed away last week. :-( I know he would have been honored to represent the DRC.

Oh and here is how that logo would look in grey scale as well as simple black and white. It is important that a logo be simple and be able to be used on things such as stamps on club letters and business cards.

Hi Jon,

I think the French Angel is nice but, I do not think the DRC stamped on the angel the looks too good. I think it hides the beauty of the Angel. Maybe putting the DRC below it?

I agree the french angel fish is lost with the logo on the fish. I like the original but would like to see it become our own where we know we own the right to it. I think a reef club should have a coral in the picture. Something like Dr Macs. Its simple yet has coral and fish. Great logo and store.great Logo

We could get a picture of some corals from our members and photoshop them in with the fish we love, to create a perfect logo.

Also nothing says we have to change the logo, we just need to find out if we own the rights to it.

Ken, can you contact the creator of the original website and find out where the graphic came from?

Al I agree, but that is not his logo you are looking at. Your looking at the splash page for his website. For instance if you go to <A HREF="http://www.ocean.udel.edu/cmp/">this page</A>, you will see the splash I made for the top of there page.(my photo)

The logo is at the top right, something they had a pro create and I photoshoped in.

I think it is a great idea to collect photos from everyone's tanks for the website. Perhaps Andy and I can make rounds to peoples houses with his our cameras and build peoples tank profiles at the same time for the website.

I think for time being we need a logo which can later be surrounded by the banner and additional graphics. We need the simple logo for letter heads, biz cards, club member cards, and so on. I'll try to work on something a bit simpler perhaps just some letters made with coral looking shapes, but not till tomorrow Steph is trying to sleep over my typing.(she starts her new job tomorrow)

Oh and I put some photos we can use up on <A HREF="http://www.gordonious.com/RC/logoideas.html">this page</A>. Unfortunitly most of my photos are on a dead PC which I need to pull the heard drive out of. GTG, but I will work on this more tomorrow.

I forgot to mention the images I have posted and those I will post in the next couple of days will be of low resolution. I don’t have any illegal software on my computers and can’t afford photoshop. Once we have decided on a design I will head into the school and use photoshop to create a final version in high resolution. When I am done I will share copies of the photoshop files as well as .pdf and .jpg with Ted for use on the website and send them to the officers for future use.
