I just bought this awesome coral for $20 today. People at the LFS told me it was a frogspwan. COuld be but it is one of the coolest i've seen. Its has a base like a bright green plate coral and mint almost clear tentacles. Very Cool! Enjoy and if you know for sure what it is post it.

Frogspawn. I'm not sure why it looks that white. I'd think it would be hard to bleach a frogspawn. mine seem to love alot of light.

I don't know if its bleached or not...appears very healthy, whatever that means right. If it is any suggestions on doctoring it back to life? Its place on the sand in my tank so not too much light to burn it? Anything else

I would give it a week or two and then begin to move it up closer and closer to the light.. If you begin to notice more color than place it high up in the tank, after acclimation...

Most information I find states that it should be paced in the sand...is this true or can it be placed anywhere with proper acclimation?

you can place it in the sand, but most call for medium light and medium flow. i have mine mounted about 1/2 up my rockwork, then again i've got another one that is on the sand, just make sure that the skeleton is supporting the coral and not the sand and that the tentacles aren't in the substrate and you should be fine. they are very hardy corals.

I have mine 8 inches from 175 watt metal halides, and it loves it, it never split when on the sand but after acclimating it and putting it high up it has split and looks great.. They can take any light if properly acclimated...

It is a bleached frogspawn. Try not to touch the flesh at all. They really don't like it. Place in medium flow and medium light. Try and place the base of the branching securely in between some rocks and leave it there without moving it again.
They are very sensitive and require excellent water quality. It still has a small amount of zooxanthellae in the base but it will take some time for it to recover if it does at all. You can feed it a small amount of brine shrimp every one or 2 days.
Euphyllia's are aggressive so place it away from other corals. Good luck.

good news...the frogspawn is starting to regain its "normal" color. he baseof all the tentacles are getting their tan/brown color. I am pleased with its recovery thus far...keep you posted.

Hard to say...the store is definitely top notch though. I do not think it was intentional. At least it seems as if things are going in my favor...for once

Good to hear, did you move the frogspawn closer to the light or did you just leave it alone... If you left it alone than thats great and means something was right at the LFS, if you moved it up the tank and closer to the light probably just means they had it to low and didnt get its light...

I placed the frogspawn at the bottom of my cube. It was at the bottom of a 20 gallon at the LFS. It was getting more light at the LFS than in my tank. Apparently it was geting too much light...even though I undestand that is rare for a frogspawn
