Sure - the D80 is a very capable camera. Of course, you'd still need the special lighting, filters, etc

BTW, I just tried the NightSea web link and it isn't working If there is a group buy, could it extend to include people in Canada?

there was an issue with the link in the article for some reason.

I used a D80 for a few of those in the article.

More than capable.

You can get a D300 for around 1200-1300 for the body not though, just so you know.

Yeah I found the body for that price but, I was looking at the kits Nikon had. Since I'm primarily making this purchase for my aquarium I don't really want to spend a fortune.

Beautiful shots there. I believe Charles Mazel played a huge role advancing the influence of fluorescence. Though photography had uv tricks even before that matter. You'd be surprised how many types of lighting tricks can achieve dramatic results. Though with today's technology and software, an experienced graphic designer could obtain the same picture quality and look. I myself can't, but I've worked with a few of them that had clients ask them to make corals look that way. I'm talking way too much now, but anyhow... great photos!
